What Really Happens When Everyone Is Asleep?

Have you ever wondered what a security guard does all day?

Many people think the job is boring, but it is actually very important.

A guard must look after the building and all the people inside.

They provide safety for everyone who enters the site during the day.

Every morning, I put on my uniform and my warm scarf because it is cold.

I check the various doors and windows to make sure they are locked.

Sometimes, I have to climb the many stairs to reach the high roof.

From the top, I can see the whole city slowly waking up.

My small actions can affect the safety of the whole neighbourhood.

It is a big responsibility, but I find great joy in my work.

I see a mother cradle her baby as she walks past the gates.

It makes me happy to see families feeling safe in public places.

I often have to remind people to show their ID cards at the desk.

Most visitors are very polite and say hello to me.

The weather can change quickly during my long outdoor shift.

I watch the cameras in the small office for many hours.

I write notes about anything unusual that happens during my time.

My boss says that a good guard is always alert and ready.

At the end of the day, I feel proud of the job I do.

Security work is more than just watching doors for a long time.
