The Blue Pencil on the Highest Shelf

Mia walks past a small bookshop on her way to school.

Today, she needs a new pencil and a ruler.

She goes into a bright little shop.

There are pens, paper, bags, and books.

Mia looks for a blue pencil.

She sees one on a high shelf.

The shop worker gets a small ladder.

Mia does not climb the ladder.

The worker climbs up and takes the pencil.

Mia takes a ruler from a box.

She also wants a notebook.

The red notebooks are very nice.

Mia checks the price on each one.

She has enough money for a blue notebook.

At last, she finds a small one.

Mia puts the pencil, ruler, and notebook in her bag.

Her friend Tom comes into the shop.

He wants to borrow a pen for class.

Mia gives him a black pen.

They leave the shop and walk to school together.
