The Simple Trick That Changes This Sentence

In English, we can change a sentence from active to passive.

The active sentence is “I’m buying a sweet bun.”

It means that I am buying one bun now.

In this sentence, “I” is the person doing the action.

The sweet bun is the thing receiving the action.

To make a passive sentence, put the bun first.

The new sentence starts with “A sweet bun”.

Use “is” because “a sweet bun” is one thing.

Next, add “being”.

Then use the past form of the action word.

The past form of “buy” is “bought”.

So, the passive sentence is “A sweet bun is being bought by me.”

This form tells us that the action is happening now.

We can leave out “by me” when the person is not important.

Then we can simply say, “A sweet bun is being bought.”
