The Neighbour Who Changed My Saturday

On Saturday, I moved into a small house by the park.

I did not know anyone in the street.

A woman next door waved at me.

She said, “Hello, I’m Anna.”

I told her my name was Tom.

Anna asked if I needed help.

The kitchen sink was leaking.

Anna brought a ladder from her shed.

She climbed up and looked at the pipe.

I held the ladder for her.

We talked while she worked.

Anna lived here in the past, too.

She told me about the little park nearby.

We walked past a small shop together.

At last, the sink stopped dripping.

Anna thanked me for holding the ladder.

I thanked her for fixing the sink.

She showed me an old wooden cradle in her hall.

It had belonged to her family.

We smiled and planned to meet again.
