Pan Tadeusz is a very famous poem from Poland.
A Polish writer named Adam Mickiewicz wrote it.
He wrote it in 1834.
The poem begins with a part called the Invocation.
In the Invocation, the writer speaks to Lithuania.
Lithuania is his home country.
He says: Lithuania, my homeland!
He loves his homeland very much.
He says you only know how much you love a place when you leave it.
He also speaks to the Virgin Mary in the Invocation.
He asks her to help him return home one day.
He remembers the green forests and fields of his home.
He remembers the beautiful rivers and old castles too.
